Dr Melanie Benson, MBBS(Hon), GDipPallMed, MBioethics, MPH, FRACP, FAChPM

Melanie is a specialist palliative medicine physician who has worked across many settings in the  Victorian healthcare sector for two decades. She has  a strong commitment to improving care for people and families facing serious illness. As well as her senior clinical roles at Palliative Care South East and Bayside Health (Peninsula), Melanie has held a clinical lead role with Safer Care Victoria and leads quality and safety initiatives within palliative care and is involved in the supervision of junior doctors and trainee specialists.

Her interests include clinical governance, bioethics, and statewide advisory work. With qualifications in public health and bioethics, she brings a community-focused, systems-aware perspective, supporting accessible, safe, and compassionate care that responds to the needs and values of the community.
